Geologist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Geologist on our team. Mancal Energy Inc. is a well-established oil and gas company with a proven track record of successful exploration and building core operating areas through organic drilling complemented with strategic acquisitions.  We are currently in the process of transforming our business with the goal of being one of the most effective and sustainable producers in the industry. 

As a collaborative member of Mancal Energy’s Exploration team, the geologist will focus on independent projects, identifying and executing drilling programs in core areas. This is a broad role which is involved in several ongoing projects within the energy group including assistance in drilling location determination, drilling development strategies and new business opportunities. In addition, this role will be responsible for ongoing geological research, drilling programs and application/analysis of new technology developments.

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the following:

• Generate geological maps and cross sections for potential drilling locations in both new exploration areas and existing MEI properties.
• Work with engineering to evaluate provided assets and determine if the option of drilling is both geologically and/or economically attractive.
• Produce/complete government applications for the continuance of mineral leases.
• Collaborate with members of Geology, Exploration, Production and Land in projects/tasks as required.
• Supervise drilling programs in core areas to ensure optimal results.
• Work collaboratively with other key team members on a variety of government applications pertaining to land continuation and production related issues.
• Contributing to ideas and strategies related to the implementation of new technology and streamlined processes. 

To meet the challenge of this role, we are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, self-starter who works well in high levels of autonomy.

• Team player with strong communication skills
• A minimum of 10 years of related experience
• Hold an APEGA designation
• Proven record of adding significant oil and gas reserves at respectable find costs on their own internally generated prospects. 
• Experience with GeoScout and StarSteer are essential
• Experience related to conducting studies, data mining, building data bases and interpreting studies an asset
